We Value

Below is a list of some of the things we value most at Generation Church. These are not our doctrinal beliefs, but rather a guide to how we do church, live life, and relate to others:

1. We are faith pioneers. Safe or settling is not in our vocabulary

2. We don't lead volunteers. We equip and empower history makers.

3. It can never be about us, it is always about Him reaching them who we pray one day will become us.

4. We do not tell people how to live their lives without explaining why we live our lives a certain way.

5. We will not be complainers, but we will be transparent about our issues and problems.

6. We expect commitment but refuse to drain the life out of people.

7. Work hard, play hard. Work with a smile, play with a smile.

8. Honesty is always an essential policy.

9. We welcome imperfections and personal struggle, but we never tolerate pride, selfishness, or arrogance.

10. We embrace people's uniqueness while striving for complete unity of vision and purpose.

Our Beliefs

Below is a list of truths that our faith is found upon:

1. We believe the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God, without any error, the

all-sufficient authority in matters of faith, doctrine, and Christian living.

2. We believe in one God, eternally existing in three Persons: the Father,

the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

3. We believe in the Virgin Birth of Jesus Christ, and that He is true God and man.

He died on the cross for our sins. He rose bodily from the dead, and ascended

into heaven, where He sits at the right hand of the Father and is now our High

     Priest and Advocate.

4. We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin and is

therefore lost. Only through regeneration by the work of the Holy Spirit can

man's salvation and spiritual life be obtained.

5. We believe that eternal salvation is the free gift of God, entirely apart from

man's works, and is possessed by any and all who have faith in and receive

Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

6. We believe in a regenerated church membership: that is, persons old enough

to understand their need for Jesus Christ and, of their own free will, accepted

Him as their personal Lord and Savior.

7. We believe that baptism is by immersion and the Lord's Supper is a memorial

to His suffering and death on the cross. These are ordinances to be observed

by the church in its present age. They are, however, not to be regarded as

     means for man's salvation.

8. We believe in the personal, bodily, imminent, and glorious return of the Lord

Jesus Christ and that His Second Coming inspires believers for dynamic and

zealous life and service for Him while waiting for His return.

9. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead, the everlasting blessedness

of the saved in heaven, and the everlasting punishment and separation from

God of the unsaved in hell.

10. We believe the person of the Holy Spirit given as a gift of God as a comforter

to the local church. We believe that the Holy Spirit provides gifts for the local

church and these gifts are available to members of the church of Jesus Christ.

Our Story

In December 2008, our founding Pastors Alex & Raquel Penduck began to sense there was more to this thing called church and the way people experienced it! They couldn't put their finger on it at the time, but they knew something big was going to happen in their lives. They had both grown up in Pastors' homes and had served in a number of churches; yet this feeling was unlike any they had felt before.

During the course of the next six months, a series of events, conversations, and what can only be called divine encounters led them to the decision to gather a group of people to start a new church in Harford County. But not just another church, they knew in their hearts that God was leading them to create a place where people could encounter God, not religion. A place to experience not a crowd of people, but a community in the same journey of discovering God, His love, His grace, and His hope.

Not being native Marylanders (Pastor Alex is from England and his wife was born in South America), both Alex and Raquel wondered why the new friends and people they had come accross in Harford County were so disconnected, disillusioned, and not interested, not only in church but also in God.

So the journey began. The theme to make the church beautiful again was integral to our DNA. We started out in a living room, moved to a basement, then held our first preview service at the Ramada Hotel in the summer of 2010. By September 19th, 2010, Generation Church began weekly services at William Paca/Old Post Road Elementary School.

The church grew, friendships were formed, and lives were changed and in April 2011, we moved our services to the Regal Cinemas in Abingdon, MD.

In August 2013, God opened doors and resources for us to be able to move into our own permanent facilities located on the corner of Old Emoorton Road and Wheel Road in Bel Air, MD.

Our story is a work in progress, much like each of our individual lives. We invite you to come along the journey!
